Untold capers - Demo
This is the prototype of a game I'm working on called 'Untold Capers'
About the game
The game is a reimagined version of the origins and story behind characters Oswald, Mickey, Peg-Leg Pete, and the origin of the Steamboat Willie.
Mechanics
The game mechanics are simple: you can move forward, backward, jump, and crouch.
About the art
The characters and a few other elements were hand-drawn and scanned. I aimed to make them similar to the actual cartoon. Most of the art, including the background, crouch and jump animations, among other things (actually, everything else), is subject to change.
Note
I hope you don't get frustrated :) The level is short and is meant to be part of the first scene in the timeline of the story I've created. Let me know your thoughts and ideas.

I would recommend to set an x-offset to the camera so that the player can see slightly more towards the direction its facing, since right now the camera is fully centered horizontally which makes hard seeing the upcoming bullets.
I'm linking you a video that uses the HK camera system as an example, which is one of the best I have seen of any game. It explains how HK CS minimizes dead spaces and focuses always on the important parts of each situation.
Oh, that's really cool! I was literally looking for ways to help the player see the upcoming bullets, but I didn't want the camera to have the player fully centered at all times because it felt static. I'll definitely try this approach.
